Mrs. Lucetta Albery passed way at her home Saturday morning, Sept. 4. Her death was caused by the infirmities of advancing years. She and her daughter, Grace, had made their home on North Gill street since coming to Monticello many years ago. Mrs. Albery was born Feb. 14, 1857, the second daughter of Reuben and Rosanna Jacobs, at Ozark, la., which was a flourishing village in those days.
She was married to Homer Albery March 5, 1876, by Rev. Hiram Keister at the Canton Methodist church. Their home was made on a farm owned by Albery near Canton. Three children were born to this union, Dr. George A. Albery and Miss Grace Albery of Monticello, and Samuel, deceased.
Funeral services for Mrs. Albery were held at the Goettsch funeral home at 2 p.m. Monday in charge of Rev. Glenn W. McMichael, pastor of the Methodist church. Mrs. Albery was buried at Oakwood cemetery. The pallbearers included Elmer Coon, Edward Cashen, Willis Rickels, William Aldrich, John Fluckiger and Edward Wirth. In addition to her son and daughter, Mrs. Albery is survived by a sister. Mrs. Emory Leggett, Cascade, and several nieces and nephews.
Those who attended the funeral from out of town included; Mrs. Minnie Bowman and Miss Mima Williams of Williamsburg, and Mrs. S. G. Batten, Cedar Rapids: Mr. and Mrs. Bert Sinkey and Mrs. John Sinkey of Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs Hiram Brady and son Howard of Ozark, Iowa, and Mrs. Emory Leggett and daughters, Helen and Rachel, of Cascade.
