Members of the Jones County Genealogical Society have donated this reading of Riverside Cemetery. This is a huge cemetery and a huge undertaking on their part. Now they need your help.
"Lost Souls of Riverside Cemetery" is a list (below) of 276 people that they are fairly certain are buried in Riverside Cemetery...they just do not know where.
Each year the sexton of the cemetery provided a list of persons he had buried that year. These people appear on the list, but their gravesites cannot be found. Keep in mind that before refrigeration bodies would be buried in a temporary location until it was determined where exactly they were going to go.
If you are able to provide information on what happened to the remains of any of these people, please write to Joanne Wilken

He is buried in the same lot as his sister, my g-g-g-grandmother, Candace (Walcott) Joslin, wife of John Gaines Joslin b. 1794, Pittstown, N.Y. According to notes left by Dr. Clark Joslin (my g-g-grandfather), Charles Walcott 'lived a bachelor all his life, and died...at the house of my brother Thurston Joslin, one mile east of Fairview, Iowa. He was buried in the northeast corner of my lot...of the Riverside Cemetery at Anamosa, Iowa.' According to other family correspondence in my possession, dated 1958, 'Charles Walcott, Candace' brother, was a herb doctor. He died in Jones county and is buried in the same lot with Candace. Dr. Jim [this was my g-grandfather, Dr. James M.D. Joslin] told me there was no marker and he took some foot markers that had been thrown away and marked it. I believe they would be taken out now.' "
