Gary Capron, 69, died Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa. The family greeted friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2018, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa. Burial will be in Olin Cemetery, Olin where military rites will be accorded. Gary Nelson Capron was born December 26, 1948, in Monticello, the son of Harry and Catharina (Folkers) Capron. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church, Castle Grove. He graduated from Anamosa High School. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. On September 18, 1976, he married Sandra Medberry at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Marion. He worked as a mechanic and in the parts department at Schoon’s Motors, Monticello, and later at Bob Zimmerman Ford, Cedar Rapids. He retired in 2001. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, AmVets, and American Legion, all in Anamosa. He enjoyed repairing and refurbishing tractors, working outdoors, and making potato launchers. He loved to spend time with his family and giving go-kart and tractor rides to his many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was everyone’s favorite uncle. Those honoring his memory are his wife of forty-one years, Sandra; Anamosa brothers, Bon (Barb) and Mike (Phyllis), all of Anamosa; a brother-in-law, Lynn (Cindy) Decious, Anamosa; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Bill) Koppenhaver, Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Pam (Roy) Robertson, Linda (Mike) Merck, all of Marion; a brother-in-law Craig (Michelle) Medberry, Marion; and a son Casey Perez, Viola.
