| Walter L. Carr, age 88 of Maquoketa, formerly of Clinton, died Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa. Funeral services will be held Friday 1:00 P.M. at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton. Visitation will be held Friday 11:00 A.M. until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Delmar. Casket bearers will be his grandsons.
Walter was born on November 14, 1921 in Scotch Grove, Iowa, the son of Walter S. and Plyga (Taylor) Carr. He served in the US Army during World War II. He married Gladys Collister in 1947 in Delmar; she died in 2002. Walter was a self employed carpenter most of his life. He is survived by his six children; Sharon (Roger) Ihns of Grand Mound, Gerald (Mary) Carr of Clinton, Ed Carr and Kathleen Shipler and Charles (Diane) Carr all of DeWitt, and Randy (Karil) Carr of Bryant; seventeen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a daughter, Mary and ten brothers and sisters.
