John Chesire
Died 1887
Our worthy fellow citizen John Chesire died Saturday evening January 15, at 7 o'clock. His death was the result of internal injuries received by a fall a year since. He was a native of County Dublin,* Ireland, and came to America when a young man. He was formerly a citizen of Dubuque county. He married Miss O'Toole many years ago, and 6 children, 2 boys and 4 girls, were the fruit of their union, all of whom survive him and are greatly respected by the commuity. The funeral obsequies occurred in St. Patrick's church Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock. Rev. Father Power delivered an impressive sermon, the burden of which was that we are all pilgrims here below and should be ready for the summons that calls us to judgement. Messrs. P. Foarde, Thos. McGuire, James Shefflin, John Spellman, John McGreavy and Phil. Ballard acted as palll bearers.
