John Christiansen
July 11, 1896–January 10, 1978
OLIN—The funeral of John Christiansen, 79, was held January 12 at 1:30 p.m. at Hayden Funeral home. Pastor John Flaa officiated. Burial was in North Madison cemetery near Center Junction.
Mr. Christiansen died January 10 at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born July 11, 1896 in Schlesweig-Holstein, Germany, son of Christian and Anna (Holshsen) Christiansen.
He came to the United States in March of 1923. He married Catherine Ketelsen in Anamosa January 7, 1927.
He was employed by Iowa Electric Company and then farmed near Monticello until becoming a car salesman in Olin in 1940. He later sold farm machinery. He retired five years ago due to failing health.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Osterkamp, Anamosa, and Freda Lorenz and Catherine Nissen, both of Germany.
His parents, two sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
Casketbearers were Rick Sieversen, Donald Ketelsen, Robert Prull, Sidney Schantz, William Ketelsen and Nile Husmann.
