Forest Earl Cress
February 16, 1909–February 1, 2004
Forest E. Cress, 94, of Onslow died Sunday, February 1, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.
Funeral services were held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Hayden & Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming with Rev. Linda Stransky of the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be held at Clay Cemetery in rural Onslow. Friends called on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Hayden & Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming.
Forest Earl Cress was born on February 16, 1909 in Toddville, Iowa the son of, John Ameriah and Minerva Mae (Andrews) Cress. He married Claribel Marie Roseberry on July 16, 1931 in Toddville, Iowa.
Forest had farmed and was a farm hand. He was a member of the Cedar Valley Pepper Club for over 60 years and a past member of the KP Lodge in Center Point.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Claribel Cress of Onslow, two daughters, Dorotha (Donald) Bickford and Evelyn (Howard) Lucksted, both of Wyoming; two sons, Dennis (Charlotte) Cress of Iowa City and Randy (Carol) Cress of Anamosa; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Bertha F. Olipahant of Center Point. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark in 1994, a grandson, Timothy in 1964, a daughter-in-law, Nancy in 1990 and his parents and two brothers.
