Jacob Cress, 36, of Olin, Iowa passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018. He was able to give the gift of life to others by being a donor.
A Funeral Service will be held at Lahey and Dawson Funeral Home in Olin, Iowa on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 17 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Lahey and Dawson Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Green Cemetery in rural Morley.
Jacob Austin Cress was born on May 10, 1982 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Randy and Carol (Bickford) Cress. Jake graduated from Olin High School with the class of 2000. He then worked as an internet installation technician. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mechanicsville. He married Melissa Falkner on June 11, 2005 in Anamosa, Iowa.
Jake was a member of the Olin softball league and enjoyed playing Men’s slow-pitch. He loved fishing with his children. He was a little league coach for baseball, basketball and other sports he could get involved in. He enjoyed vacationing in Wisconsin with his family every year. He loved the outdoors, nature and his many pets, especially his pot belly pig, Daisy.
Those left to cherish Jacob’s memories are his wife, Melissa, children; Kael and McKenna, parents Randy and Carol Cress of Anamosa, brothers; Jeremy Cress of Marion , Jordan (Devan) Cress of Anamosa, maternal grandpa, Dale Bickford of Onslow, nephew Kaiden Cress, nieces; Kylee Cress, Kaili Falkner, Aecha Falkner, Emma Reynolds and one on the way, Hayden, mother-in-law Kristi Sharp of Olin, father-in-law Chuck Sharp of Olin, brother-in-law Matt (Stormy) Falkner of Olin and sister-in-law Rachel Cress of Lisbon.
Jacob was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Forrest and Claribel Cress, maternal grandma Gwen Bickford, maternal grandmother-in-law and grandfather-in-law Lois and Gene Brecht.
