Robert "Bob" Eugene Cummings
1949 – March 30, 2017
Robert (Bob) Eugene Cummings, 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 30, 2017, after a long illness. A private celebration of his life was held by his family.
Bob was born in Richwood, West Virginia, to Herbert and Hattie (Copen) Cummings. He received his education from Richwood High School. He always had a love of the outdoors and spent his childhood camping and fishing in the mountains of West Virginia and along the banks of the Cherry River. While in Richwood, he found a passion for law enforcement and held the positions of police chief and sheriff’s deputy in Nicholas County.
He continued his career in law enforcement at the Anamosa State Penitentiary. It was in Anamosa where Bob met his wife of thirty years, Robyn (Lincoln) Cummings and raised four children. Bob was also an entrepreneur, but his favorite endeavor was his bait shop. He loved spending his days at the shop visiting with customers and telling ‘big fish’ stories.
He is survived by his wife, Robyn; his children Miranda, Josh, Katie (Drew) and Jacob; grandsons, Ryder and Wyatt; his brother, Bud (Kay); sister Carolyn; and father-in-law Robert Lincoln.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother-in-law, Pat Lincoln.
Bob will be truly missed.
