Doris Eugina Thomsen, 82, of Center Junction, died Friday, November 14, 2008, at Anamosa Care Center in Anamosa, Iowa.
A celebration of her life was held on Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Center Junction, Iowa, with Shepherd Karmen Jamison officiating. Burial was in North Madison Pioneer Cemetery, Center Junction, Iowa. Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lahey Funeral Home, Wyoming.
Doris E. Ralston was born on October 10, 1926, in Jackson County, Iowa, daughter of Eugene and Zina (Clark) Ralston. She attended school in rural Jackson County. She married Julius W. Thomsen on October 10, 1944 in Maquoketa, Iowa.
She was a homemaker and had worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa.
She enjoyed being a homemaker and cooking and baking. She was an avid reader, liked to play Yahtzee and to spend time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Julius Thomsen of Center Junction; her children Sylvia Wirfs of Mount Vernon, Carol (Kerby) Barnes of Center Junction, Bill (Janet) Thomsen of Olin, Gusta Lyle of Wyoming and Dixie (David) Rickels of Anamosa; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ila Lehrman of Olin. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
