L. Rice
Died 1880
Resident of Bowen's Prairie 29 Years

We have not been able to obtain much information concerning Mr. L. Rice, whose death, at his home on Bowen's Prairie, we announced last week. He was 72 years old at this death, and had been a resident of Bowen's Prairie 29 years, having removed there from Dubuque in 1851. He was a school teacher for several years, and a man of considerable general intelligence. Besides being a consistent member of the Methodist church, he was an excellent neighbor and citizen. By a long life of industry and frugality he had acquired a competence. He had been married twice. By his first marriage he had four children, by his second two. His second wife survives him. He will be missed and sincerely mourned by the community of which he was for so many years a member.
