Blake Collyer Taylor was born May 3, 1951, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. He was the son of Clyde and Charlene (Lyon) Taylor. He graduated from the Olin High School in 1970. Blake served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He worked in the family business, Taylor Motors, in Olin and at Wilson Foods in Cedar Rapids. Blake Taylor and Renee Handel were married on October 19, 1991, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. The couple have resided in Anamosa and since 1995 have operated the Anamosa Concessions business at events all over the state of Iowa.
Many will remember Blake as the “Funnel Cake Man” for this reason. Never did you see him at an event without his tongs in his hand. He was a very hard worker and enjoyed his concessions of twenty-three years with his wife, Renee. He was a laid back, humble man who enjoyed pulling pranks and telling stories in his off time as well spending time with his pride and joy, his grandchildren.
