Homer George Thompson

Homer G[eorge] Thompson, 79 of 3618 Lynbrook Dr. NE [Cedar Rapids, Iowa], died Friday evening, Oct. 10, 1998, in St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. His body will be cremated and no services are planned at this time. Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; three daughters, Shirley Kellog and husband James of Lost nation, Donna Wilsef and husband Norman of Wyoming and Becky Mullin of Houston; two sons, Gary and wife Janice of Witchita Falls, Texas, and Tommy and wife Phyllis of Fairfield; three brothers, Howard and wife Mary of Grant City, Mo., and Kenneth and Dwayne, both of Seattle; two sisters, Elizabeth Hunt and husband Sanford of Grant City, Mo., and Marie Jones and husband Don of Ottumwa; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Born July 2, 1918, in Redding, Iowa, to Henry and Mary Wells Thompson, he married Dorothy J. Orr on Feb. 10, 1939, in Des Moines. Homer owned and operated THOMPSON'S Standard Service Station in Wyoming for 17 years until moving to Cedar Rapids in 1989. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of American Legion Hanford Post 5.
