Kenneth Vacek
September 30, 1947 – June 27, 2016
Kenneth Vacek, 68, of Oxford Junction passed away on Monday, June 27th, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held for him on July 9th from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Oxford Junction Legionaire.
Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction will be assisting the family at this time.
Ken was born on September 30, 1947 to Mike Jr., and Gertrude (Schroeder) Vacek in Davenport, Iowa. He graduated from the Oxford Junction Community School in 1966. He married Brenda Belitz on August 14, 1982 in Bennett, Iowa.
Ken worked for nineteen years as a heavy equipment operator and twenty-four years as a maintenance operator for the Jones County Road Department, retiring in 2013.
Ken was a committee member of the Wapsi Bottoms Whitetails Unlimited and a member of the best hunting group. His passions were fishing and hunting of all kinds. He loved each vacation at Pine Point Resort in Crane Lake, Minnesota. He loved sharing the outdoors with his sons, Nick and John. He was never happier than when he was hunting or fishing with the two of them. He was the best husband ever.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Brenda Vacek, of Wyoming, his two sons, John Vacek of Wyoming and Nick Vacek of Oxford Junction; brother Michael (Eloise) Vacek of Oxford Junction, special nephew Jeff (Penny) Vacek and family of Oxford Junction, mother and father-in-law, Ron and Carolyn Belitz of Tipton, sister-in-law Beverly (David) Tripp of Tipton, brother-in-law, Brad (Naoke) Belitz of Tokyo, Bryce (Mary) Beltz of Wilton, and Brian Belitz of Jeffersonville, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Renee, grandson Nathan Weiland, uncles, aunts and his favorite dog, Cocoa.
