|Elsie Anna Martha Vietzke Current

|Elsie Anna Martha Current, age 97, of Wyoming, Iowa, and formerly of Monmouth, Iowa, died on Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.
A celebration of Elsie's life was held at 6:30 p.m., Friday, February 20, 2009, from the Carson & Son Funeral and Cremation Services in Maquoketa. Visitation was held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Service Time on Friday, February 20, 2009, from Carson & Son. Burial was in the Monmouth, Iowa Cemetery.
Elsie Anna Martha Vietzke was born on August 21, 1911 in Nassau, Minnesota to Ernest Vietzke and Mary (Habek) Vietzke. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Nassau, and graduated from the 8th grade in 1926. She married Milo Current from Baldwin, Iowa on October 9, 1932 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. They later divorced, but Elsie continued to reside at the Current family home in rural Monmouth until moving to Wyoming, Iowa in March of 2000.
Elsie was a homemaker, an avid gardener, and raised hundreds of chickens, selling fryers and eggs during her lifetime. She was known throughout the area as the "Egg Lady."
Elsie loved working outdoors and her hobbies were crocheting and writing many cards and letters to family and friends.
Elsie is survived by a daughter, Delores Neal of Wyoming; a granddaughter, Jody (James) Nowachek-Miller of Anamosa; six great-grandchildren, Nikki (Jeff) Martens, Dan DeMoss, David (Lisa) DeMoss, Dustin DeMoss, Joshua Neal and Koree Miller; six great-great-grandchildren, Taylor, Layne, Britan, Kailee, Wyatt, & Alexis. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son-in-law Floyd Neal, four sisters, three brothers, and a grandson Randy Neal.
