Robert J. “Bob” Von Spreecken

Robert J. “Bob” Von Spreecken, 83, of Onslow, died Friday, August 31, 2007at 60th Avenue, Wyoming, Iowa, following a sudden illness. Services were held Wednesday, July 5, at First Presbyterian Church in Center Junction, with Pastor Joyce Dean officiating. Burial was in Wyoming Cemetery.
Robert was born July 13, 1924, in Monticello to Peter Henry and Blanche Marie Sarby Von Spreecken. He graduated from Wyoming High School in 1942. He married Maxine Calloway on Feb. 25, 1951, in Maquoketa.
Robert farmed all of his life in the Center Junction, Onslow and Wyoming areas. He was a member of Center Junction First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the church session and was an elder. He also served 21 years on the Midland Council of Churches. He served on the Center Junction Telephone Board for 17 years and the Center Junction Creamery Board for many years. He honored as an Outstanding Young Farmer of Jones County. He was a Jones County 4-H leader, member of the Jones County REC and Jones County Farm Bureau. He also was president of the Circle J Square Dance Club.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Gregory (Melanie) Von Spreecken of Yangon, Myanmar, Joleen (Tim) Busch of Atkins, Brenda Von Spreecken of Onslow and Sheila VanDenover of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Ross,
