William C. Welch

MONTICELLO—The funeral of William C. Welch, 92, was held Monday afternoon, May 12, at Goettsch funeral home with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. W. Willis Longer officiated.
Mr. Welch died Friday night, May 9, at Anamosa Care Center after several months' residency.
He was born in Jackson county December 26, 1882, the son of Thomas and Catherine Hawkins Welch. He received his early education in the Jackson county schools.
On June 29, 1905, he married Ida Bickford in Maquoketa and the couple made their home in Jackson and Jones counties. Since the death of his wife June 1 1961, he had been living with his children, and recently at the Care Center.
He is survived by three children, Mrs. Thelma Kiburz, Mrs. Harold (Sarah) Darrow and Manville Welch, all of Monticello; thirteen grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Herman, a daughter Gladys, a great grandson, four sisters and eight brothers.
Casket bearers were Ira Welch, Keith Welch, Duane Darrow, Richard Darrow, Keith Kiburz and William Kiburz.
