| Charles E. West, 72, of Olin passed away on August 28, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.Chuck was born in 1944 to Robert and Pauline West of Waterloo, Iowa. He was an Eagle Scout and attended Iowa State University. He retired in 2006 after twenty-plus years at Fabco Caterpillar in Madison, Wisconsin, and moved to Olin.He is survived by his wife, Diana, and brother, Gary West of Rochester, Minnesota.Chuck was a Master Gardner and enjoyed volunteering as a member of the Jones County Master Gardeners. He also was a 4-H judge and volunteered at the Great Jones County Fair. He and Diana raised show horses. Chuck loved life in the country, gardening and raising his turkeys and chickens.The family would like to thank the University of Iowa Hospital for Chuck’s care. A private memorial service will take place at a later date for family and friends.
