Donn David Willey, 79, of Baldwin, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at his home in rural Baldwin, Iowa.
A memorial service celebrating Donn's life will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, March 21, 2015, from the Faith United Methodist Church in Monmouth, Iowa. A light reception will follow in the church basement. A natural journey farewell with cremation has taken place. There is no visitation. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.
Donn David Willey was born on February 24, 1936 in Baldwin, Iowa, to LaVerne A. and Mildred Elizabeth (Scott) Willey. He was raised on a farm in Baldwin where he graduated from Baldwin High School.
Donn farmed for many years and married Nancy Lee Jayne on April 20, 1958 in Anamosa, Iowa. They made the move to Oxford Junction, Iowa in 1969 where they lived for many years. Donn held many jobs through the years including Clinton Engines, Collis, ADM and Farmstead. He was a lumber jack, truck driver, worked road construction, but most of all he was a self-employed carpenter.
Those left to honor Donn's memory include his wife Nancy Willey of Baldwin; daughters Kathryn (Todd) Clark of Baldwin, and Daine (Tim) Crowley of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren Dakota Clark, Kadie Clark, Dempsey Clark, Derrick Clark, Stephanie Thornton and Hollie Dunn; a great-grandchild Isabella Thornton; a sister Marilyn Nothstein of Baldwin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-brother Duane Willey, an infant daughter Jayne Willey, and one infant grandson Brandon Denniston.
