Lawrence Willey,
September 15, 1926 – February 28, 2018
Lawrence Willey, 91, of Anamosa, formerly of Wyoming, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at the Anamosa Care Center.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming. A visitation was held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Zion American Lutheran Church before the service. Burial was held at the Wyoming Cemetery. Lahey and Dawson Funeral Services was assisting the family at this time.
Lawrence was born on September 15, 1926, in Jackson County to Frank and Sophia (Weidemann) Willey. He attended Calamus High School. He married Alberta Schmidt on June 23, 1948, at Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming in a double wedding with Alberta’s sister, Lorraine (Donald) Leinen. He worked as a farmer, mechanic and mowed Little Bear Country Club for twelve years.
He was a member of the Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming. He was on the Midland School Board and Little Bear Country Club. He loved golfing and dancing with his wife. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Alberta; three children, Linda (Daryl) Moenk of Troy Mills, Mark (RoAnne) Willey of Center Junction, Jan (Jan Hendersen) Willey of Indianapolis, Indiana; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Verna Parham, Marilyn Schmidt, Jean Schmidt, Nadine Willey and Lola Severin.
He is preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
The family would like to give a special thanks to both Pinicon Place and Anamosa Care Center for their great care of Lawrence.
