| Michael John Wurst, age 49, of Davenport, died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at his home after a four year battle with cancer. Services to celebrate his life were held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Weerts Funeral Home, 3625 Jersey Ridge Road in Davenport. The family greeted friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home. Burial was in the Wyoming Cemetery.
Michael was born in 1962 in Monticello, Iowa to Harold and Evonne Wurst. He graduated from Midland High School in1981. He then attended and graduated from Iowa State University in 1985 with a BA in Business. After graduation Michael moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked as loan officer with TransAmerica. After four years in Colorado, he transferred back to the Quad Cities, most recently working with auto dealership financing programs through US Bank in Davenport.
Michael was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport. He enjoyed sports, motorcycling, golfing, and NASCAR races with his friends. He loved people and especially spending time with his family in any way he could.
Survivors include his parents, Harold and Evonne of Marion; his son, Grant of Bettendorf; a sister, Jenny (Francis) McCloy of Lisbon; nephews Andrews and Matthew; and many other friends and relatives.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, and uncles, Jack and John.
