Dr. O. E. York, Former Resident, Dies in Monticello

Dr. Oscar E. York, 62, Monticello veterinarian, who was born and raised in Maquoketa, died at his home in Monticello, Sunday January 30, 1949, following a long illness. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., February 1st at Goetsch Funeral Home, Monticello, with the Rev. James W. Sala, pastor of the Presbyterian church officiating. Burial was made at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa.
Born May 6, 1886 in Maquoketa, he married Anna Gordon of Dexter in 1916. He practiced veterinary medicine in Belle Plaine before coming to Monticello nineteen years ago.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Grace Louise of Evanston, Illinois; a son Dr. Gordon York, Davenport; 3 sisters, Mrs. Emory Hinckley and Mrs. Ida Wood, both of Maquoketa and Mrs. Hermann Rebelsky of Clinton; one brother, Wallace of Mitchell, South Dakota.
