|J. H. BURGESS, farmer, Hale Twp., Sec. 20; P.O. Olin; born in New York in 1836; went to Whiteside Go., Ill., and remained about twenty years; then in 1866, to Jones Co., Iowa, and owns 147 acres. In politics, Republican; in religion, liberal. His wife, Luvina Switzer, born in Pennsylvania in 1846, came to Lee Co., Ill., in 1856, married in 1866, and have had six children—Ben C., born July 20, 1877; Pearly M., November 24, 1868; James, September 17, 1871; Charles B., August 6, 1872; Milin E., October 13, 1873; Etta M., November 12, 1875.
