The Jones County Genealogical Society's Newspaper Archive Project is completed and available free online at jonescounty.advantage-preservation.com/. This searchable archive includes Cascade Courier (1895–1896), Cascade Pioneer (1876–1909, 1913–1940, 1943–49, 1977, 2000–2011), Cascade Pioneer Advertiser (1939–1943, 1949–2000), Midland Times (Wyoming) (1973–1995, 1997–2010), Oxford Mirror (1942), The Anamosa Eureka (1856–1857, 1859–1881, 1883–1888, 1896–1898, 1903, 1905–1907, 1912–1914, 1916–1918, 1920–1937, 1943–1948, 1954–1964, 1967–1972, 1974–1979, 2010), The Anamosa Journal (1885–1901, 1903–1968, 1977–1979), The Anamosa Journal Eureka (1979–2010), The C Press (Olin) (1928–1931), The Eureka (1857).
The archive seems to work most smoothly using the Apple Safari browser. It also works in Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, but I can't get the images to come up in Google Chrome. In most cases the search engine brings up two listings for each hit. Results are not highlighted, so it takes a bit of searching once you get to the page. Not all issues are available for each year, but there is plenty of material to keep Jones County researchers busy for some time.
Ross & Elizabeth Baty Public Library (Monticello) has the Monticello Express (1865–2004) and Jones County Liberal (1872-1874) available free online.
Jones County items are often included in the Cedar Rapids paper which is available free online courtesy of the Cedar Rapids Public Library.

Booth House on National Register of Historic Places

The Edmund and Mary Ann Walworth Booth house in Anamosa has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places. The National Register is part of the National Park Service. Read the article in the Anamosa Eureka and visit the Registration Site (scroll down for pictures).

MADE IN ANAMOSA
This documentary, filmed in Anamosa, was intended for foreign audiences during the Cold War and presents a pastoral view of a small town in the heartland of America, dependent on agriculture for its existence. The film is pure Our Town, Iowa-style. Though rooted in reality, the film idealizes a rural Iowa way of life shown in numerous fictional films. You can view it on YouTube.
