LEANDER L. BURLINGAME, retired, Anamosa; was born in Chenango Co., N.Y., August 12, 1815; he went to Pennsylvania in 1833, and lived in that State until coming to Iowa in 1854, and located in Jones Co. and engaged in farming; in 1864, he went to Tama Co. and remained there four years and returned to this county, and since then has resided here. In 1847, he married Miss Ellen Post, from Bradford Co., Penn.; they have three children—Alice, Jennie and Orson. Mr. Burlingame is an own cousin to the late Hon. Anson Burlingame, Minister to Japan, and was born in the same town.
