| S. CALKINS, dealer in groceries and provisions, Monticello; is a native of Canada; was born November 28, 1815; he grew up to manhood there and came to New York State and lived there until 1867, then came to Jones Co. and located at Monticello; in 1877, he engaged in his present business; while living in New York, he held the office of Superintendent of Schools, and since coming here has held the offices of City Weighmaster and Street Commissioner. In 1837, he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Ann Walbridge, from Vermont; they have one son—Wesley W., engaged in business with his father.
