JAMES DUNCAN, farmer, Greenfield Twp., Sec. 12; P.O. Viroqua; born August 10, 1810, in Perthshire, Scotland. In 1839, came to Ohio; in 1854, he came to Jones Co.; he owns 181 acres of land. Married Agnes Marshall in 1837; she was born in Perthshire, Scotland; have four children—William F., Lawrence, James and Peter. Is President of School District No. 1; enlisted in 1861 in Co. H, 14th I.V.I.; was taken prisoner at the battle of Shiloh April 6, 1869; was discharged in February, 1863. W. F. and Lawrence served also in the late war.
