Frank Fisher
Born November 8, 1838
FRANK FISHER, Anamosa; is a native of the north part of Bohemia, and was born November 8, 1838; he emigrated to America in 1854, and came to Maquoketa, Iowa; he learned the trade of harness-maker; in 1869, he came to Jones Co. and located in Anamosa; when the war broke out, in the fall of 1861, he enlisted in Co. H, 13th I.V.I.; he was in the battles of Shiloh and Corinth, siege of Vicksburg and other fights and skirmishes, he remained in the service two years and four months, and was discharged on account of ill health; after his return, he engaged in business and carried on harness-making until two years ago, in 1872, he built the store be now occupies on Main street. He married Mary Wanicek, from the north part of Bohemia, November 22, 1865, they grew up together and came to this country at the same time; they have four children—Lewis J., Clarence V., Flora Kay, Johnnie.
