| JOHN W. LYON, farmer, Jackson Twp., Sec. 14; P.O. Amber; born January 20, 1839, Warren Co., Ind.; in 1849, came to Illinois; in 1856, came to Jones Co.; owns eighty acres of land; enlisted in 1865, in Co. E, 39th I.V.I.; served to the end of the war; participated in the battles of Vicksburg, Jackson, Miss., Arkansas Post and Athens. Married Mary H. Chew in 1865; she was born in 1844, in New Jersey; have five children—John W., Cornelius M., William F., David F., and Vinton O. Democrat; Christian Church.
