| J. S. MURFIELD, farmer, Greenfield Twp., Sec. 14; P.O. Viroqua; born October 4, 1825, in Franklin Co., Ohio; in 1850, came to Jones Co., Iowa. Owns 365 acres of land; eighty acres of this he entered, and has made all the improvements on this farm. Married Elizabeth A. Bancroft in March, 1846; she was born in Union Co., Ohio; have eight children—Richard B., Delmar F., Charles W., Caroline M., Claudius James, Mary L., Hattie A. and John B. Has been Constable, Township Trustee, Assessor, etc.
