A. B. Oakley
Born August 8, 1835
A. B. OAKLEY, attorney at law, of the firm of Oakley & Jamison, Anamosa; is a native of Fairfield Co., Conn., and was born August 8, 1835. He grew up and attended school there. When 20 years of age, he came to Illinois, and attended school at Mount Morris. In the spring of 1861, he came to Cedar Co., Iowa, and located at Mechanicsville, and engaged in teaching. He began reading law in Connecticut, and was admitted to the bar. In the spring of 1877, he came to Anamosa, and associated with Mr. Jamison, and since then has practiced his profession here. He held the office of Superintendent of Schools of Cedar Co. In April, 1858, he married Miss Hannah Miller, from New York; they have had three children; only one son survives—Raymond, born April 2, 1876.
