In politics, Republican; in religion, United Brethren. His wife, Barbara Hoffman, born in the same place in 1809. Married in 1838; have six children—Barbara (now Mrs. Rodrick, in Carroll Co.), John (in Greenfield Township), Sarah (now Mrs. George Smith, in Rome), Lucinda (now Mrs. Stephenson), Amanda (now Mrs. Henry L. Smith), Caroline.
