| JOHN PRESTON, farmer, Cass Twp., Sec. 4; P.O. Anamosa; was born in Yorkshire, England, in 1814; his parents. William and Ann Preston, came to the United States in 1826; they settled in Marion Co., Ohio; his father died soon after; his mother died in Hardin Co., Ohio, only a few years since. Mr. Preston was married to Anna Peel; they came to Jones Co. in 1854; he has owned his present farm for twenty-five years; has six childrenWilliam, Mary Ann, Theodore, Samuel, Charles and George; the latter was born in Jones Co. in 1854; the other children were born in Ohio. Mr. Preston has 400 acres of land; is engaged in general farming.
