Both John and Cora Robertson were born and raised in the Martelle/Morley area of Jones County. Most of John's ancestors were from the Center Junction, Amber and Anamosa area while Cora's were from the Morley area.
John and Cora were married in Jones County and lived there until about 1928, when they moved to the Will Henderson farm north of Central City. With them came six children.
Wilbur Arthur, 1910, never married, lived with his parents, and died in May 1973.
Kenneth Andrew. 1912, married Kathryn McEvoy and farmed most of his life around Central City and Prairieburg. Later he bought a milk route and hauled for Sanitary Dairy. They build a home in Coggon and moved off the farm before he died in 1984.
Cora Pauline, 1916, first married Ernest Buelow, then married Lenard Prchal. Pauline lived and worked most of her life in Cedar Rapids. She died in 1970.
Paul Eugene, 1918, married Doris Starks. Paul served in the Army during World War II. They farmed for several years; then bought a milk route and hauled for Sanitary Dairy. Doris worked for the Farmers' State Bank in Alburnett, where they lived. They were both killed in an auto accident in May 1973. They had one son, Ronald Eugene, who married Trudy Glowacki. They have two sons, Scott and Paul. They live in Colorado.
Zella Mae, 1921, married Willard Goodlove (See F-116).
Roger Lee, 1924, married Loraine Coleman. Roger served in the Army Infantry during World War II. They farm northeast of Central City. They have three children. Terry Lee, Denise Marie and Dan Allan.
Terry Lee married Karen Trumblee. Both work in Cedar Rapids but live near Central City in a home they built on some of Roger's farm. Their three children are Amy Sue, Shane David, and Holly Lynn. Denise Marie married James Franks and has two sons, James Lee and Jeffry Lloyd. They live in Urbana, Iowa, and both work in Cedar Rapids. Dean Allan married LuAnn Slater. They now live in Vinton, Iowa. Dean is a meat cutter for a Hy-Vee store in Cedar Rapids. Their four children are Angela Marie, Kimberly Lynn, Andria Lea, and Brian Dean.
In 1934, from this farm north of Central City, John and Cora moved this family of six kids to a farm just south of Waubeek called the Wm. Penn farm. In 1942, they bought the Graft farm just west of the railroad viaduct south of Central City on Highway 13. Wilbur was the only one of the children left at home to move there with them. After John's death in 1959, Cora and Wilbur continued to live there. Wilbur's death in 1973 left Cora alone on the farm. She lived there two years before going to live with her daughter, Zella. Her heath failing, she spent her last few years in a nursing care center.
