Was a soldier in the old country and was in the Franco-Prussian war. Wife's maiden name was Adelina Henrietta Van Baesten, a native of Germany also; have had four children, three are livingJohnnie, Theodore, Louise Henrietta, Annie Maggie. All the family are Lutherans; Mr. Volkers is a Democrat.
