| Steve Hanken says, "There is a Tibbets Cemetery in Richland Twp. NW 1/4 of Section 32. No grave stones are left there, but I believe that there is at least one burial, it is listed in the 1930s graves registration project done by the WPA. At one time there was a mill at this location that washed out in, I believe, 1875. The mill was run by the Tibbetts family and the burial is a Tibbetts family member. The site is located on the high knoll on the south side of the river above the old mill site."
The WPA record says, "Tibbets, ------- Old family cem. on a bluff overlooking the Maquoketa River, on the old Tibbets farm in Richland twp." |
