I. Andrew1 Byerly was also known as Andreas Beyerle. He was born on 26 Jun 1713 in Rohrbach, Heidelberg, Baden, Germany.1 He married Anna Catherine Unknown circa 1745/46.2 He married Beatrix Kuhl circa 1747.3 He married Beatrice Gulding circa 1758.4,5 He died in 1781 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.6 Andrew Byerly was of Swiss German origin. He was a Lutheran fleeing Catholic persecution in his homeland. He arrived in Philadelphia on the "Charming Nancy" on 9 Nov 1738, at the age of 23. He was a baker, cook, carpenter, gun trader, inn keeper, ranger and frontier scout. He established the post at Bushy Run, known as Byerly Station and participated in the French and Indian War, serving with Washington.7,8

A. Michael2 Byerly was born on 7 Dec 1748 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.9 He died on 22 Jul 1829 in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, at age 80.10

D. John Francis2 Byerly was also known as Johann Francis Byerly. He was born on 4 Mar 1754 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.13 He married Magdalene Harmon in 1774.14 He died on 1 Jan 1803 in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, at age 48.15

1. Francis M.3 Byerly was born on 8 Mar 1791.16 He married Catherine Creamer, daughter of George Creamer, on 23 Sep 1817 in Fairfield, Ohio; "Kitty Kreamer." This needs checking. At home was Adam, 22.21 He and Catherine Creamer appeared on the census of 30 Jun 1860 in Jackson, Jones, Ohio; "Thomas," 67, farmer, real estate=$2000, personal estate=$1075; Catherine, 64. At home were Adam, 26, farmer, real estate=$1000, personal estate=$60; Adam's wife, Ferina, 19, born Ohio. Enumerated with the family was Peter Reeger, 26, carpenter, personal estate=$125, born Pennsylvania.22 He died on 17 Dec 1862 in Anamosa, Jones, Iowa, at age 71.23

(1) Alvin Ricketts5 Byerly was born on 4 Oct 1841 in Fairfield, Ohio.37 He married Emarilla Beam, daughter of Joseph Beam and Barbara Ann Fall, on 28 Aug 1862 in Jones, Iowa; by J. J. Huber, Minister.38,39 He began military service on 12 Sep 1862 in Marion, Linn, Iowa, Company K, 6th Iowa Cavalry. At home were Jeannie J., 3; Joseph W., 2; Nora M., 3/12.41 He removed to Fredonia, Wilson, Kansas, on 28 May 1871.42 He removed to Jones, Iowa, before 1873.43 He married Ella May Armitage in 1873.44 He removed to Fredonia, Jones, Iowa, in 1875 He apparently returned again to Jones, but eventually sold his farm and moved permanently to Kansas.45

E. Jacob2 Byerly was born in 1760 in Fort Bedford, Pennsylvania.445 In 1833 Jacob Byerly, (1760-1858), enlisted at seventeen from Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, and in 1833 applied for a pension. It was allowed for two years actual service as private. He died in Westmoreland county at the advanced age of ninety-eight. 446 He died on 7 Jul 1858 in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania.447
