Ballou
Thanks to Mary Ann McCutcheon we have some old photos of the Ballou family. They are from a photo album that belonged to Ellen Maybell Ballou Baker, daughter of Silas Ballou and Mary Jane Smith. She was known as Ella. Ella's daughter, Lillie Baker Johnson, wrote the names in the album, probably in her later years. You can click on any photo to see a larger version.

JIRAH BALLOU & HIS EXTENDED FAMILY
Jirah (Jerah, Jerah) Ballou came to Jones county in 1854 with two of his sons. He was followed by his nephew, Silas Warren Ballou, who settled near Clarence in Masillon township, Cedar county and is buried in Jones county. The file includes an Index and Endnotes.

If front is Betty, granddaughter of Viola.
Earl F. & Marguerite Ballou
These photos are from my own album. Earl F. Ballou was grandson and son of the two Andrews at the top of the page. He and Beula Marguerite Harrison were married 6 December 1917. Earl and Marguerite left Iowa, first for Chicago and then California. In the 1940s they operated a gas station and fruit stand on Highway 66 near Glendora. They raised collies on a ranch near San Bernardino. After that they lived in Glendora for many years in a little house at the end of the P.E. line and across the street from the city park, and Earl worked at Rainbird. Eventually they retired to a mobile home in Yucaipa.
