Joe Lenfeld

JOE LENFELD, who for many years has made his home with Mr. and Mrs. John Zamastil, on the farm near this city, was born in Bohemia and came to this country, when but six years old with his father, who came
direct to Oxford Junction. Joe for the past year or more has been employed in this city, and just before being called in the draft, was a partner with Joe Barto in the Rex Billiard Hall. He was summoned in the draft of April 25th, and upon reporting at Anamosa was sent immediately to Camp Dodge, and where he remained for about four months, receiving the training that was necessary before going overseas. About the first of August this year he was transferred to Camp Mills, N. Y., and boarded a transport for overseas the 14th of the same month. The voyage across the ocean was made without mishap and shortly after arriving in France he was ordered to the front lines. Without a doubt he was active in some of the heavy fighting. His last letter being dated October 26th, friends in this city await anxiously some news from him.
