Asa Alspaugh
July 20, 1844 – September 22, 1903
Asa Alspaugh was born in Fairfield county, Ohio, July 20, 1844, and died at his home near Fairview, Sept. 22, 1903, at the age of 59 years, 2 months and 2 days. He was one of a family of nine children, of which two only are living, Mrs. Orpha Arnold, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and S. D. Alspaugh of Anamosa, Iowa. He removed with his parents to Jones county in the year 1845. He resided his lifetime near the old homestead on which his parents settled in the year 1845. He was married to Sarah F. Falor March 11, 1877, with whom he lived until her death Sept. 27, 1901. He united with the Fairview M.E. church about four years ago. He was an affectionate kindly man to his family, honorable and charitable to his neighbors and all who came in contact with him, and will be missed by a large number of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted in the Fairview M.E. church by Dr. W. E. Glanville. A very large concourse of people attended and followed the remains to Norwich cemetery."
