Larry Eugene Appleby
February 26, 1949 – July 25, 2016
Larry Appleby, 67, of Oxford Junction, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Jones Regional Medical Hospital in Anamosa, Iowa surrounded by his family.
His funeral service will he held on Saturday, July 30, at 11:00 a.m. at the Legionnaire in Oxford Junction. His visitation will be on Friday, July 29, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello.
Larry Eugene Appleby was born on February 26, 1949 in Iowa City to Freddie and Luella (Boots) Appleby. He married the love of his life Mary Kay Fedderson on August 8, 1969 in Anamosa, Iowa. He served in the United States Army for eight years, enlisting in 1966.
Larry worked at Iowa Steel in Cedar Rapids, Wilson Foods and IAC in Iowa City.
He was a member of Harley Hogs. He liked to fish, hunt, camp and travel. Larry also enjoyed gambling. He loved spending time with his family and friends. The neighborhood kids often enjoyed his company and knew him as Grandpa or Uncle Larry. He enjoyed time with his dogs, they were his boys.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Mary Appleby of Oxford Junction, son Nicholas Appleby of Indiana, daughter Shelby (Chris Millard) Appleby of Marion, sisters; Mary (Duane) Kaplan of Iowa City, Bernadean (Bob) DeWald of Oxford Junction, brothers; Paul (Roxy) Appleby of Cedar Rapids, Cletus John (Rosemary) Appleby of Cedar Rapids and Thomas (Joann) Appleby of Cedar Rapids.
He is preceded in death by his parents and many sisters and brothers.
