Alma Kathryn Arnold Meyer Black

Funeral services for Alma Black, 94, were held November 4 at the Peace United Church of Christ, Monticello with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. Robert Pike officiated at the services.
Alma K. Black of Monticello died November 1 at the Senior Home in Monticello, following an extended illness.
Alma Kathryn Arnold was born April 17, 1895 in Castle Grove Township, Jones County, the daughter of George and Trinka Marie Schoon Arnold. She received her education in the rural schools near her home. She later worked for many years at the John McDonald Hospital in the dietary department.
Alma Kathryn Arnold and John Meyer were married in 1919. The couple made their home in Monticello, John died in 1938.
Alma Arnold Meyer and Lowell Black were married June 21, 1948. The couple traveled for three years after they were married, and returned to Monticello. Lowell preceded her in death in 1955. Alma was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Monticello. Due to declining health, she moved to the Senior Home in June 1985.
Alma is survived by a brother, Chris Arnold of Monticello, a daughter-in-law, Mabel Meyer of Monticello, five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, two husbands, a brother and four sisters.
Casketbearers were Frank Schneiter, George Burrichter, Lewis Burrichter, L.R. Bader, Robert C. Hasler and Gene Hall.
Goettsch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
