| Ann Schneider, age 92, died Sunday, October 14, 2012 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral Services were held at 11:00 Wednesday morning, October 17, 2012 at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello where friends called after 10:00. Interment was in the Mayflower Cemetery, Oxford Junction. Pastors Steve and Marti Hansel officiated at the services.
Surviving are a brother, George Balichek of Clarence, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, a son Larry, a sister Blanche Vacek, and two brothers, Edward and Louis.
Ann H. Balichek was born September 12, 1920 at Oxford Junction, Iowa. She was the daughter of George and Sophia (Pashek) Balichek. Ann graduated from the Oxford Junction Schools in 1938. She worked as clerk in a grocery store and as a waitress.
Ann was a teacher for twenty-two years in the rural schools of Jones County. She later continued her education and graduated from the University of Iowa in 1974 with a degree in Special Education. She taught two years in the Independence and eight years for the Monticello Community Schools at the Amber School.
Ann married Jim Schneider on January 10, 1978. He preceded her in death on February 10, 2000.
