Harold August Bartels

Harold A. Bartels, 87, of Maquoketa passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2015, at West Wing Place in DeWitt, Iowa.
A public graveside service and burial celebrating Harold’s life was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2015, from the Lost Nation, Iowa Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, and again on Thursday, December 31, 2015, from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m.
Harold August Bartels was born on August 14, 1928, in Clinton County, Iowa, to William and Tillie (Adrian) Bartels. He grew up in Clinton County and graduated from Delmar High School in 1945. He married Margaret Taylor on August 23, 1950 in Wyoming, Iowa.
Harold was a lifelong farmer and had farmed the family farm where he was born. He loved farming and being home on the farm. He was a kind and quite man.
Those left to honor Harold’s memory include his wife, Margaret Bartels of Maquoketa, Iowa; daughters, Marcia Bartels of DeWitt, Iowa and Lisa Bartels of DeWitt, Iowa; two granddaughters, Kelly and Kasey Bartels; one great-grandchild, Kaitlyn Bartels; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Bartels of Maquoketa, Iowa, and Wilma Taylor of Wyoming, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Mary in 1968, and son Norman in 2010, a sister Myrtle Wilms, and two brothers, Arnold and Ralph Bartels.
