| Kim S. "Bart" Bartels, 54, of Olin, died Thursday evening, October 7, 2010, at his parent's home in Monticello, Iowa.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, October 11, 2010, at 1:30 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Olin, with Shepherd Karmen Jamison officiating. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Lahey Funeral Home, Olin. Burial will be in Green Center Cemetery, Morley, Iowa, with military honors.
Kim S. "Bart" Bartels was born on June 30, 1956, in Monticello, Iowa, to Paul and Elizabeth (Kohrt) Bartels. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1974 and graduated from Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids as a veterinarian tech. He married Teresa Brewer on August 1, 1992 in Olin, Iowa.
Bart served in the U. S. Navy. He was a truck driver for the Municipal Street Improvements in Wyoming since 1989.
Bart was a member of the National Rifle Association. He loved the outdoors, hunting, camping, fishing and trapping.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Bartels of Olin; one son, Jesse (Teresa) Manning of Fairfax; two grandchildren, Laura and Rylee; his parents, Paul and Elizabeth Bartels of Monticello; his father-in-law, Dale Brewer of Monticello; several brothers and sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
