Hans Bendixen

Hans Bendixen, 82, of Wyoming, Iowa died of heart failure Monday, July 1, 2013 at Genesis Medical Center, in Davenport, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 6, at Lahey Funeral home in Wyoming. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 5, at Lahey Funeral Home in Wyoming, Iowa. Officiating will be Rev. Ginger Anderson of Zion American Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery, north of Olin.
Hans Bendixen was born August 24, 1930, in Amber, Iowa to Werner and Margaret (Osterkamp) Bendixen. He spent his formative years attending Wyoming School and working for many farmers in the area, including his father. He married Delores Said of Maquoketa on April 12, 1950. They had four children, Hans married Shirley Josvinger on February 3, 1973. Hans worked thirty-seven years as a farmer. He worked twenty-five years at Big Bill's. In 1980 he became a licensed chemical sprayer. He was a lifelong member of Zion American Lutheran Church.
Hans was very committed to his family and friends and always lending a helping hand when needed. Hans loved to farm and raise animals and grow crops. Other hobbies included woodworking and watching the Cubbies.
He is survived by four children; Linda Bendixen of Hiawatha, Thomas (Marlene) Bendixen of Maquoketa, Steven Bendixen of DeWitt and Mark Bendixen of Maquoketa; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; six siblings, Anna Marie Entsminger of Anamosa, Syliva Rickels and life partner Eldon Covington of Anamosa, Margaret (Tom) Rohwedder of Wyoming, Richard (Arlene) Bendixen of Anamosa, Chris Bendixen of Olin, Evelyn (Jim) Heinius of Cedar Bluffs, and Chrystal (Steve) KIatt of Olin; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Helen Fall, and a brother Werner, Jr.
