Ida Bell Bickford Welch
March 5, 1888 – June 1, 1961
MONTICELLO - Funeral services for Mrs. William Welch, 73, were held Saturday, June 3, at 2 p.m. from the Goettsch Funeral home, Monticello, with Rev. Wayne Norris, Wyoming, officiating. Burial was held at Oakwood cemetery.
Mrs. Welch died Thursday, June 1 at the Brandt Nursing home in Wyoming after an illness of seven months.
Born March 5, 1888 near Emaline, Jackson County, Iowa, she was a daughter of Matthew Bickford and Sarah (Post) Bickford. On June 29, 1905, she was married to William Welch at Maquoketa. They made their home on farms in Jackson and Jones counties until the fall of 1960 when they retired and moved to Maquoketa. She was a member of the Oak Drive Community club of Scotch Grove.
Survivors include her husband William Welch, Maquoketa; her children, Thelma, Mrs. Frank Kiburz, Monticello; Manville, Scotch Grove; Sarah, Mrs. Harold Darrow, Wyoming; Herman, Maquoketa and thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Gladys.
Also surviving are a brother James Bickford, Onslow; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Schwartz, Anamosa and Mrs. Clarence Nabb, Maquoketa and a half-brother, Manville Edwards of Maquoketa.
