Daniel L. Blakeslee
February 15, 1815–Augustb 23, 1898
Daniel L. Blakeslee was born in Madison County, New York, February 15th, 1815, and departed this life at his home in this place on the morning of August 23rd, 1898 after a brief illness.
Deceased was educated at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. He moved to Ohio about the year 1840 and was admitted to the bar as a lawyer in Cincinnati. He came to Wyoming, Iowa in 1857 and for a time practiced la; also was a surveyor. Upon completion of the railroad through this place he received an appointment as Untied States mail route agent and moved his family to Davenport, Iowa, where they resided about twelve years. When he retired from the mail service, returned to this place with his family and passed the remainder of his days.
He was married to Mrs. Alma Brainard of this place; April 14th, 1864, who survives him to mourn the loss of a most excellent husband.
He was a man of culture and refinement, of a retiring disposition, and enjoyed to its utmost home and domestic life. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church for nearly forty years and as many or more years a member of the masonic fraternity.
