Dorothy R. Blythe Milota
April 27, 1924–July 29, 2009
Dorothy R. Milota, 85, of Maquoketa, and formerly of Oxford Junction, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, following a lengthy illness.
A celebration of her life was held on Saturday, August 1, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction, with Pastor Pat Slater officiating. Friends called on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction. Burial was in the Mayflower Cemetery, Oxford Junction, Iowa.
Dorothy Rae Blythe was born April 27, 1924 in Clarence, Iowa, daughter of Ray and Irma (Wilkins) Blythe. She attended country school and graduated from Oxford Junction High School in 1942. She married Gilbert Milota on May 29, 1942, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He died in May of 2002.
She was a homemaker. Dorothy loved quilting, sewing, gardening and flowers and working at the Oxford Junction Library.
She is survived by her children, Ronald (Kathy) Milota of Marion, Gilbert "Butch" (Agnes) Milota, Jr., of Maquoketa, and Patricia (Al) Heinrich of Savanna, IL; seven granddaughters, nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eleanor (George) Leslie of Oxford Mills.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a grandson, and three brothers, Donald, Dave and Dallas Blythe.
