Barry Lynn Bodkin
October 15, 1958–January 18, 2015
Barry L. Bodkin, 56, of Olin, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. His family has granted his wishes of cremation with a burial at a later date at Green Center Cemetery in Morley, Iowa.
Barry Lynn Bodkin was born on October 18, 1958 to Daryl "Red" and Norma (Smith) Bodkin in Anamosa, Iowa. He attended Olin School District until going into Job Core in Pine Busch, Nebraska where he received his GED in 1976. Job Core is where he learned many of his carpenter and electrician skills.
Barry served in the United States Army from 1976 - 1978 where he learned his heavy equipment and truck driving skills. He was a carpenter and also drove truck for VIP Sanitation of Scotch Grove, until retiring in March of 2014.
He loved to tinker with everything, go fishing, and drive trucks. Barry liked hanging out with his friends and spending time at Fall's Garage. He adored spending time and watching movies with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his father, Daryl "Red" Bodkin of Olin; two sons; Adam Bodkin of Olin and Danny Bodkin of Monticello; three grandchildren; Heath, Isaiah, and Nevea Bodkin; and one sister Trudy (Randy) Fisher of Olin.
Barry is preceded in death by his mother and one brother John.
